Which Country’s People Do Not Wear Clothes?

It is almost impossible to see a country where everybody does not wear clothes. However, there are some places in the world where people do not wear clothes.

Some of the places where people do not wear clothes include:

Koma, Adamawa, Nigeria

The people of Koma, a remote village in Adamawa state, Nigeria do not wear clothes. The people of this hilly community in Adamawa, Nigeria believe that it is a taboo and affront to their gods for people to wear clothes.

Recently, some of the people in Koma now wear clothes because of the advent of Christianity and the influx of foreigners into their community.

Taromenane Tribe

Taromenane tribe is a tribe of nomadic people in the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin rainforest who do not wear clothes. It is believed that there is an estimated 150-300 members of this tribe who remain uncontacted by the outside world.

The Taromename people live in the Yasuni National Park. The tribe is being threatened by illegal logging and mining in the national parl.

Xingu Tribe, Brazil

Xingu people live in the Xingu Park in the Brazilian Amazon of Brazil. The Xingu people are red Indians, they do not wear clothes as they believe that wearing of clothes is against the norms, religion and culture.

The Xingu people live in an area of about 10,000 square metres. The Xingu peoplelive in Aweti, Kalapalo, Kamaiura, Kayapo, Kiukuro, Matipu, Mehinako, Nahukua, Suya, Trumai, Waura, and Yawalapiti, and make up a population of about 3,000 people.

Sentinelese Tribe, India

The Sentinelese are known to be the most isolated people in the world. The Sentinelese tribe lives in North Sentinel, Andaman, a small area between India and Myanmar. It is believed that this tribe mainly lives within the borders of India.

The Sentinelese people do not wear clothes and are hostile to people who are not member of their tribe. It has been reported that a lot of outsiders have been killed while trying to visit North Sentinel in India.

The Sentinelese do not have access to things used by outsiders and they have refused to integrate themselves into the wider Indian community.

Korowai Tribe, Indonesia

This tribe is also called Kolufo, the Korowai tribe resides in the rainforest regions of South Papua and Highland Papua in Indonesia.

Their customary attire involves a form of nudity, although both men and women often adorn themselves with garments crafted from fiber, cotton, or dry leaves, typically worn around the waist.

The Korowai people work as hunter-gatherers and horticulturists. They inhabit the forest and construct their traditional houses called Rumah Tinggi atop trees or elevated wooden poles to mitigate encounters with harmful insects and animals.

Dani People, Indonesia

The Dani people live in the Baliem Valley in Highland Papua, Indonesia, making them the prominent ethnic group in the Central Highlands of Western New Guinea. The Dani people do not wear clothes.

There are about 90,000 Dani people in the Baliem Valley, Indonesia. They were first seen in 1909 by Hendrikus Albertus Lorentz and his expedition team.

Sanuma People, Brazil

The Sanuma are an indigenous community spanning both the Brazilian and Venezuelan borders. In Venezuela, they inhabit the Caura River and Ventuari River basins.

The Sanuma people have a population of about 1,500 individuals. The Sanuma people do not wear clothes; however, some of them are now adopting the western culture by wearing clothes.

There are other people and tribes in the world that do not wear clothes. Most of these people are found in Africa, South America and Asia.
