How to make money from drinks

Start a bar

Owning a bar can be very profitable especially if it is situated in a place with high foot traffic. People like to drink and relax.

A friend once asked me why almost every street in Lagos has two or more bars. I simply told him that the business is very lucrative and people drink a lot.

I once counted over 10 bars in a street in Ireakari Estate, Isolo, Lagos.

Bars sell soda, juice, beer and wine to their customers. Some wine go as high as N500,000 and you will be surprised that a lot of Nigerians buy this type of expensive wine.

Go to Lagos Island and other expensive places in Nigeria, you will see people spending above N2 million in just a night on wines.

You can make a ton of money if you are serious about this business.

Sell drinks on the web

Do you know we have businesses that sell drinks on the web today? I know a number of young businessmen who started online retail of soft drinks, beer and wines in Nigeria and they are smiling to the bank.

To start to sell drinks on the web, you need to design a website with a payment processing facility. Paystack in my opinion is the best payment processor in Nigeria.

Your marketing strategy should be on point. Digital marketing is very effective for ecommerce businesses.

Sell drinks in a store

You can also make money from drinks by selling in a store or a shop.

Some drinks stores are huge while some are small. You just need to open the type of store your capital can accommodate.

Some street corner drinks store make as much as N20,000 in a day.  It is advantageous if you open your drinks store in a busy location.

You should also implement sound marketing strategies.

Hawk drinks

I ran into a young man from Ebonyi state who hawks soft drinks in Oshodi Lagos last month. I started a conversation with him. This young man told me that he sells drinks worth N20,000 everyday while hawking.

I never believed him until he thoroughly explained the business of hawking to me.

Would you rather die in penury or go out to hawk and make money. There are people who started life as hawkers and they are billionaires today.

Be a distributor to the producers of soda, juice and beer

Without distributors, big producers of drinks like Guinness, Nigerian Breweries, Chi and International Breweries etc would not have been able to penetrate the Nigerian market well.

Distributors make consumers know the products of these drinks companies.

You can make money by being a distributor of a big drinks producer. You will help the producers to sell their products to wholesalers and retailers.

Start a haulage firm

Haulage companies help drinks producers to move their products from one point to the other. Without them, it will be a great challenge to move drinks in bulk from one place to another.

Haulage companies make good money from this venture.

The business is capital intensive as you will need to trucks and other equipments for haulage. However, it can be very profitable if you know the strategies to manage the risks.

Are you interested in drinks business? Why not start the business today.
