Abuja, Nigeria – The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has officially confirmed the nomination of Mr. Yemi Cardoso as the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. All the CBN Deputy Governor nominees were also confirmed as Deputy Governors. This announcement comes after months of anticipation and careful deliberation.
Mr. Yemi Cardoso, a seasoned banker with a track record of excellence, has been nominated as the Governor of the CBN. His nomination has generated excitement and optimism within financial circles, given his wealth of experience in economic policy formulation and implementation.
The confirmation also extends to several other nominees who have been selected to fill the positions of Deputy Governor within the CBN. Notable among them are:
- Mrs. Emem Usoro: Confirmed as the Deputy Governor
- Mr. Muhammad Abdullahi-Dattijo: Confirmed as the Deputy Governor
- Mr. Bala Bello: Confirmed as the Deputy Governor
- Mr. Philip Ikeazor: Confirmed as the Deputy Governor

President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, announced the nomination of Olayemi Cardoso to serve as the new Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN).
The president said Mr Cardoso is to serve a term of five years in the first instance, pending his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
Mr Tinubu also approved the nomination of four new deputy governors of the apex bank to serve for a similar duration of five years in the first instance, pending their confirmation by the Senate, according to a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity.
The nominees according to the statement are Emem Usoro, Muhammad Abdullahi-Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor and Bala Bello.
